I did really enjoy the book, it had some twists and turns to it, it does have quite a bit about the British Home Children. Some of the children taken due to their parents no longer able to take care of them or they passed away and the children had no relatives to step forward and take care of them. When they arrive in Canada, they are either adopted or given to farmers, etc. to serve as indentured servants. Grace McAlister finds a small trunk in her attic with belongings that came with her when her parents adopted her. She finds the name of the place where she stayed until she was placed with her parents. She really wants to find her family members. Then a brother showed up on her doorstep. Her parents don’t want to believe she has family members and even a Mother who was alive and they throw him out. She is about to be presented to society as a girl ready to marry, marry the man who has be best family even if she doesn’t like or love him. So, when Garth and his buddy show up at the ball, they sneak her away from her family to take her back to natural family. There are other’s who are involved in this story and it is quite a tale. This is the second book in the series, the first in this saga was “No Ocean Too Wide”. I never read the first book and don’t believe you have to read it in order to understand and follow this story. It’s a sweet romance, with mystery and history thrown in. I do recommend this book if this is your type of read.</p><p>I received this book in the kindle format from NetGalley and my opinions on this book are my own freely given, I wasn’t required to do a review. #NoJourneyTooFar #NetGalley #CarrieTuransky</p><p>Description as found on NetGalley.com:</p><p>A family long divided, a mysterious trunk, and a desperate journey across the ocean—all in the name of love. With this new connection to her birth family, will she be brave enough to leave her sheltered life in Toronto and uncover the truth? </p><p>After enduring hardship as an indentured British Home Child, Garth McAlister left Canada to serve in World War I. social media following, as well as a shiny monthly paycheck. When her

coming true. There's just one catch: she has little experience interacting with
people in need.<br />

Times</i> bestselling author of <i>Everything, Everything</i> and <i>The
Sun Is Also a Star</i> Nicola Yoon is back with her eagerly anticipated
third novel. With all the heart and hope of her last two books, this is an
utterly unique romance.<br />
<br />
Evie Thomas doesn't believe in love anymore. Especially after the strangest
thing occurs one otherwise ordinary afternoon: She witnesses a couple kiss and
is overcome with a vision of how their romance began . . . and how it will end.
After all, even the greatest love stories end with a broken heart, eventually.<br />
<br />
As Evie tries to understand why this is happening, she finds herself at La Brea
Dance Studio, learning to waltz, fox-trot, and tango with a boy named X. X is
everything that Evie is not: adventurous, passionate, daring. His philosophy is
to say yes to everything--including entering a ballroom dance competition with
a girl he's only just met.<br />
<br /></span><o:p></o:p></b></p><p><b><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif; font-size: 10.5pt;">Falling for X is definitely not what Evie had in mind. If her visions of
heartbreak have taught her anything, it's that no one escapes love unscathed.
But as she and X dance around and toward each other, Evie is forced to question
all she thought she knew about life and love. In the end, is love worth the
risk?</span></b> </p>dancealertreads.blogspot.comhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01102782825980833388noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7140136559216820433.post-49275220164383342672021-03-12T11:04:00.004-08:002021-03-12T11:04:26.613-08:00Destined for You by Tracie Peterson – 5 Stars<p> </p><p class="MsoNormal" style="background: white; line-height: 14.4pt; margin-bottom: 4.5pt; mso-outline-level: 3;"><br /></p>

fractured family together--especially as her father is frequently gone on long
fishing trips. Their livelihood may come from the waters of Lake Superior, but
storms on the lake can be dangerous, even to those who know it well.<br />

Luke Carson has come to Duluth to help shepherd the arrival of the railroad to

recently moved there with his pregnant wife. Competition for the railroad is
fierce, with the neighboring city of Superior, Wisconsin, fighting for the
tracks to come through their town instead. But the real danger lies in a
resident of Duluth who is determined to have his revenge upon Luke.<br />

know they aren’t very deep…but interesting.
This one is based on Fairplay, Colorado. Greta has to travel there with
her sister to leave a city where no one would marry her because her sister was

if they married her. The entire city was
talking about it so she left town, got a ticket for a mail-order bride for a
man when she arrives, she finds out has died.
The Mayor in the little town says he’ll help her, he does by telling
Wyatt that help invest in his herd of cattle to help him out if he’ll marry and
start a family to help change the reputation of the city….more families….less
men who are troubled and hang in saloons eventually. It was a fast read, interesting Jody Hedlund

new mystery series from award-winning author Joanna Schaffhausen, featuring
Detective Annalisa Vega, in which a cold case heats up.<br />
<br />
The Lovelorn Killer murdered seven women, ritually binding them and leaving
them for dead before penning them gruesome love letters in the local papers.
Then he disappeared, and after twenty years with no trace of him, many believe
that he’s gone for good.<br />
<br />
Not Grace Harper. A grocery store manager by day, at night Grace uses her
snooping skills as part of an amateur sleuth group. She believes the Lovelorn
Killer is still living in the same neighborhoods that he hunted in, and if she
can figure out how he selected his victims, she will have the key to his
identity.<br />
<br />
Detective Annalisa Vega lost someone she loved to the killer. Now she’s at a
murder scene with the worst kind of déjà vu: Grace Harper lies bound and dead
on the floor, surrounded by clues to the biggest murder case that Chicago
homicide never solved. Annalisa has the chance to make it rights and to heal
her family, but first, she has to figure out what Grace knew—how to see a
killer who may be standing right in front of you. This means tracing his steps
back to her childhood, peering into dark corners she hadn’t acknowledged
before, and learning that despite everything the killer took, she has still so
much more to lose.</span></b><b><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; font-size: 10.5pt; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";"><o:p></o:p></span></b></p>

A touching novel of a friendship that crosses generations, and learning how
even the smallest gifts can change a life for good, from <i>USA
Today </i>bestselling author Nancy Naigle.<br />
<br />
Two years after her husband’s death, Amanda Whittier has two children to raise
alone, an abandoned dream of starting a business, and a fixer-upper cottage by
the sea. She has no room in her life for anything else and little interest in
moving on after losing the man she loved. <br />
<br />
Paul Grant is a relative newcomer to the area, and his work with former
military dogs needing rehabilitation has been good for the town. Though he
loved once before, he’s convinced he’s not suited for romance and is determined
to find meaning—alone—through his work and role in the community. <br />
<br />
Widowed Maeve Lindsay was born and raised on Whelk’s Island. Spirited, kind,
and a little mischievous, she pours her life into the town. But she carries a
secret that shapes her every move. <br />
<br />
Together, these three souls find encouragement in the most mysterious places
and discover a love that’s bigger than their pain, healing their wounded hearts
in ways none of them could have hoped for or expected.</span></b><b><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; font-size: 10.0pt; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";"><o:p></o:p></span></b></p>dancealertreads.blogspot.comhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01102782825980833388noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7140136559216820433.post-74495478153814374462021-02-25T09:09:00.001-08:002021-02-25T09:09:17.790-08:00The Bookshop at Peony Harbor (An Aster Island Novel) by Rosie Summers – 5 Stars<p> </p><p class="MsoNormal" style="background: white; line-height: 14.4pt; margin-bottom: 4.5pt; mso-outline-level: 3;"><b><span style="color: black; font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; mso-color-alt: windowtext; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";">Eloise Paisley went

take reading for granted should not.
Reading this book brought so many feelings to the forefront for me. I have read a few books about the people of
the hill country, in different areas,
and this book made me so appreciative of those things I have in my home
and my life. Lucy Wilson goes to help out
Cora Wilson Stewart at first to ride a horse (she didn’t know how to ride when she
first came to the mountain) into the country and to help the people write
letters to others and to read letters those who received them. These adults can’t read and write, and they
live in such primitive conditions. Yet
they are so full of pride for what they do have. She ends up helping Cora to put together a school
for adults, that takes advantage of the time when the children aren’t in school.
Also, when the adults aren’t needed to
work in their fields. This helps give
Lucy a purpose, as she has been at loose ends ever since her sister disappeared
and years later her Father remarried.
She also meets Brother Wyatt with his unusual way of writing music down
with words so that the people can follow them when he leads singing get
togethers. This book is so full of
reasons to read it, you won’t want to put it down, you’ll be horrified by the
way the people live, their speech, and yet proud of them as they do so much
with so little. Pick this book up! You’ll not be disappointed.</span></b></p>

by her sister's mysterious disappearance, Lucy Wilson arrives in Rowan County,
Kentucky, in the spring of 1911 to work for Cora Wilson Stewart, superintendent
of education. When Cora sends Lucy into the hills to act as scribe for the
mountain people, she is repelled by the primitive conditions and intellectual
poverty she encounters. Few adults can read and write.<br />
<br />
Born in those hills, Cora knows the plague of illiteracy. So does Brother
Wyatt, a singing schoolmaster who travels through the hills. Involving Lucy and
Wyatt, Cora hatches a plan to open the schoolhouses to adults on moonlit
nights. The best way to combat poverty, she believes, is to eliminate
illiteracy. But will the people come?<br />
<br />
As Lucy emerges from a life in the shadows, she finds purpose; or maybe purpose
finds her. With purpose comes answers to her questions, and something else she
hadn't expected: love.<br />
<br />
Inspired by the true events of the Moonlight Schools, this standalone novel
from bestselling author Suzanne Woods Fisher brings to life the story that
shocked the nation into taking adult literacy seriously. You'll finish the last
page of this enthralling story with deep gratitude for the gift of reading.</span></b><b><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; font-size: 10.5pt; line-height: 107%;"><o:p></o:p></span></b></p>dancealertreads.blogspot.comhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01102782825980833388noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7140136559216820433.post-49110144194244717492021-01-28T13:41:00.001-08:002021-01-28T13:41:05.917-08:00The Newcomer by Mary Kay Andrews - 5 Stars<p> </p><p class="MsoNormal" style="background: white; line-height: 14.4pt; margin-bottom: 4.5pt; mso-outline-level: 3;"><b><span style="color: black; font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; font-size: 12.0pt; mso-color-alt: windowtext; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";">Mary

In trouble and on the run...<br />

After she discovers her sister Tanya dead on the floor of her fashionable New
York City townhouse, Letty Carnahan is certain she knows who did it: Tanya’s
ex; sleazy real estate entrepreneur Evan Wingfield. Even in the grip of grief
and panic Letty heeds her late sister’s warnings: “If anything bad happens to

left behind a “go-bag” of cash and a big honking diamond ring—but only one
clue: a faded magazine story about a sleepy mom-and-pop motel in a Florida
beach town with the improbable name of Treasure Island. She sheds her old life
and checks into an uncertain future at The Murmuring Surf Motel.<br />

The No Vacancy sign is flashing & the sharks are circling...<br />

And that’s the good news. Because The Surf, as the regulars call it, is the
winter home of a close-knit flock of retirees and snowbirds who regard this
odd-duck newcomer with suspicion and down-right hostility. As Letty settles
into the motel’s former storage room, she tries to heal Maya’s heartache and
unravel the key to her sister’s shady past, all while dodging the attention of
the owner’s dangerously attractive son Joe, who just happens to be a local
police detective. Can Letty find romance as well as a room at the inn—or will
Joe betray her secrets and put her behind bars? With danger closing in, it’s a
race to find the truth and right the wrongs of the past.</span><o:p></o:p></b></p>dancealertreads.blogspot.comhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/01102782825980833388noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7140136559216820433.post-78518854478951317982021-01-28T13:35:00.001-08:002021-01-28T13:35:34.151-08:00Shadows Of The White City - Jocelyn Green - 4 Stars<p> </p><p class="MsoNormal"><b><span style="font-size: 14.0pt; line-height: 107%;">This book

page three. I walked around my house
tending to things but reading as I went along. I couldn’t put it down. It was very well written, the story very well
plotted out, everything seemed to flow.
I wanted to see how it was going to end very much from the
beginning. I became invested in the
characters and wanted to keep reading.
If you are looking for a good book to pick up, this one won’t disappoint
you. It has suspense, romance,
danger……Great story.</span></b></p>

another heartwarming novel about humans and the dogs that change our lives.<br />
<br />
Ruby Heartwood has always lived a life on the move. As a traveling psychic, she
makes her living working at carnivals and festivals and circuses around New
England. It's a life Ruby has made peace with—settling in one place has never
been for her. She needs no one, and no one needs her.<br />
<br />
Until one night, when she is camped by the side of the road in her trusty
Volkswagon "Westie" van, a fierce thunder and lightning storm erupts.
In the middle of the downpour, she hears a distinct voice telling her to
"let me in." In jumps a little black and white dog, and to Ruby's
astonishment, she can hear the dog's thoughts. Has she been struck by
lightning? Did the storm do this? Is she losing her mind?<br />
<br />
It turns out, Ruby can hear many dogs' thoughts. She decides to set up semi-permanent
residency in the town of Harmony Farms, until she can sort out what is going
on, and who the little dog, Hitch, belongs to. But some people in Harmony Farms
don't want her there. And it seems that events keep preventing Ruby from
leaving. What secrets is this town keeping? Why was she meant to find this dog?
And what has Ruby really been running from, all these years?</span></b><b><span style="font-family: "Arial",sans-serif; font-size: 14.0pt; mso-fareast-font-family: "Times New Roman";"><o:p></o:p></span></b></p>

a very interesting book! It’s about a young woman, Leah, who has the gift of
healing. She can put her hands on
someone see where the problem is in their body and make it just go away, or
improve remarkably. The book was very
well crafted, with great characters, suspense, and some humor. She realized at a very young age that she
could see things about people. If they
were going to die, or if they were very sick.
It’s very engrossing and I highly recommend this read to everyone. Looking for a new book to crack the cover on,
